MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President George Weah has suspended three key members of his cabinet recently sanctioned by the US Government.

Minister of State for Presidential Affairs, Nathaniel McGill, Solicitor General Syrenius Cyphus and National Port Authority (NPA) Managing Director Bill Twehway were designated by the US Treasury Department on Monday, August 15, 2022, for alleged corruption.

The report designated the three officials for specialized US sanctions under the Global Magnitsky Act.

An Executive Mansion release issued Tuesday, August 16, 2022, said President Weah views the allegations against the three officials contained in the report as grave.

It added that the top officials were suspended to enable them face investigations.

President Weah has since designated the principal deputies of the suspended officials to act in their stead.
