Justice Ministry indicts seven persons……

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Ministry of Justice has indicted seven persons involved in the July 26 violence involving the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC)-Council of Patriots (COP), and the University of Liberia (UL) based Student Unification Party (SUP).

The seven persons, Ben Togbah, Abdurrahman Barry, Aaron Chea, Foday Massaquoi, Joshua Saye Karr, Pokar Roberts and Kendrick Pelenah, were handed their writ of arrest on Monday, August 15, 2022, at Criminal Court “A” by the Sheriff.

After receiving the writ, Defense Lawyer Cllr. Arthur Johnson signed on behalf of his clients and proceeded at the Monrovia City Court to commence the preliminary hearing.

After the hearing, though prosecuting lawyers were not present, Judge Jomah Jallah ordered the case to go ahead.

In a Four Count submission, Cllr. Johnson informed the court that drawing indictment is an abuse of prosecutorial power, adding that it was deliberate purposely to undermine the integrity and authority of the City Court.

The seven men have been charged with criminal attempt to commit murder, aggravated assault, and criminal conspiracy.
