Pres. Weah pleas with Liberians to live happily…..

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President George Weah has once more appealed to citizens to live happily in the spirit of love and unity.

President Weah said:” Though there are distractions and opposing forces, those challenges can be surmounted if Liberians stick united.”

He said that the love of liberty that brought freed slaves to Liberia some two-hundred years ago must be used to further unite the country.

The Liberian Leader was speaking when he made special remark on Sunday, July 24, 2020, at the Intercessory and Thanksgiving Prayer Service at the Assembly of God Church in Central Monrovia.

President Weah said:” The country is heading towards prosperity, and there was need for regression of the gains already made. It was disheartening to see some desperate opposition politicians lobbying for sanctions against the country, in the name of corruption.”

According to President Weah, if it is established that an official of Government is corrupt, that person must be sacked rather than using the country as a sacrificial lamb.

At the same time, in his sermon delivered, the Bishop of the Assembly of God Church, Rev. Dr. Edwin Gbelly, wants the 2023 Presidential and Legislative Elections modeled after the Senatorial By-election in Lofa County.

Bishop Gbelly said the By-election in Lofa County was not only peaceful and transparent, but also void of legal challenges after results were announced.

He said:” The Lofa County By-election will go down in history as one of the most credible elections worth emulating in future elections, including the crucial 2023 Presidential polls.”

Bishop Gbelly also acknowledged the importance of all contestant parties’ willingness to aside their ego and forge ahead for the sake of peace and stability.

At the same time the AG Church Bishop has called on Government to maximize the resources of the country in order to benefit the larger population.

According to Bishop Edwin Gbelly, Liberia is too blessed with abundance of natural resources, but unfortunately many citizens live in abject poverty.
