House of Rep. to pass into law bill granting prosecuting powers to Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC)…..

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The House of Representatives is expected to pass into law a bill granting prosecuting powers to the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) and other integrity bills.

The proposed law titled: “An Act Amending and Restating the Act Establishing the Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) will grant the anti-graph institution persecutory powers.”

The lawmakers are also expected to pass a bill known as the Whistleblower Act of 2022, seeking to protect whistleblowers and the Witness Protection Act of 2021.

The Plenary of the House of Representatives is also reviewing other instruments to be enacted before its Independence Day break this week.

According to the Director of Press at the House of Representatives, Robert Haynes, the bills include An Act to Amend the Allen and Nationality Law and Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing.
