Vice Pres. Howard-Taylor wants concerted effort to fight against Sexual, Gender Based Violence

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Vice President Jewel Howard-Taylor is calling for a collective effort in the fight against Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV).

Madam Taylor joined the campaign to ensure that SGBV is abolished, calling on community members, civil society actors and parents to work together to protect children.

Vice President Taylor spoke Monday, May 23, 2022, in Monrovia, at the opening of a five-day sensitization workshop on enhancing the capacity of local community actors to prevent and respond to SGBV.

The workshop is organized by the Kofi Annan International Peace Keeping Training Center, in collaboration with the Catholic Relief Service (CRS) in Monrovia.

Also speaking, Major General Francis Ofori, Commandant of the Center, said the workshop will enhance the capacity of participant in responding to SGBV cases in Liberia.

He said:” It will also contribute to the promotion of peace and security in Liberia, as well as shaping the attitudes of community actors in the fight against SGBV.”

For her part, CRS Country Manager, Dr. Abena Amendorley, pledged her organization’s support to development of community actors in the fight against SGBV.
