Liberia Immigration Service reports spillover of Burkinabees…..

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberia Immigration Service (LIS) is reporting a spillover of illegal occupation of Burkinabees from Grand Gedeh County to North-East Nimba County.

LIS Commissioner General, Colonel Robert Budy, said recently sixty-one Burkinabees illegally entered the Country, and are currently residing in Belawaley Town in Nimba County.

However, Col. Budy told the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism (MICAT) Press Conference on Thursday, May 19, 2022, that the illegal entry is being aided and abetted by some Liberians involved with mining activities.

The LIS Commissioner General admitted that there are over one-hundred border towns without security, something that is worsening the illegal entry of Burkinabees and other nationals.

In another development, Col. Budy said twenty-six Liberians were deported from the United States from January 2022 to present.

Commissioner General Budy said the deportees committed heinous crimes against the laws of the United States, stating that they are being counseled and reintegrated into the society.
