Presidential Press Sec. Office reassures Executive Mansion Reporters…..

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Presidential Press Secretary Office has reassured that efforts are being made to address several concerns raised by the Executive Mansion reporters.

On Monday, May 16, 2022, journalists assigned at the Executive Mansion issued a press statement in which they highlighted the lack of assigned vehicle, empowerment and foreign travel opportunities.

They, through their head, Dennise Nimpson, said:” The lack of assigned vehicle is causing ineffectiveness, and that we are not being rotated for assignments by the Office of the Press Secretary.”

Responding to the statement, Deputy Presidential Press Secretary Smith Toby said the concerns were already being worked on by the President.

Mr. Toby said:” It was a disservice for reporters to question the generosity of the President, after they complained the iPhones gifted to other reporters, during a tour of warehouses at the Freeport last month should have been given to Executive Mansion reporters.”

The Deputy Presidential Press Secretary, however, said while it was not a prudent decision to have come public with their concerns, modalities are being worked out to procure an assigned vehicle.

Meanwhile, Presidential Press Secretary Isaac Solo Kelgbeh has clarified that he still enjoys the confidence of President George Weah, and the Minister of State for Presidential Affairs, Nathaniel McGee.

Mr. Kelgbeh said:” My stay in the United States to seek medical treatment is being supported by President Weah, Minister McGee and Ambassador Finda Bondo.”

He told ELBC on Monday, May 16, 2022, that he got ill while attending the last conference of the Association of Liberian Journalists in the Americas.

Mr. Kelgbeh said he then requested for an official medical leave to undergo further treatment in the US.

The Presidential Press Secretary’s clarification comes in the wake of media report that he has abandoned his job, and joined his wife in the US.
