Pres. Weah issues Executive Order 107…..

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President George Weah has issued Executive Order Number 107, suspending import tariffs on off-grid solar lighting appliances, equipment and other system components.

The Order also affects other systems directly related to renewable energy development, classified under the Tariff Numbers of the Liberia Revenue Code.

It said importers of off-grid solar equipment shall only pay the Custom User Fees and the ECOWAS Trade Levy, where applicable.

President Weah said those benefitting from the Executive Order must be directly involved in the renewable energy sector.

He indicated that the Order is in recognition of the increased need to stimulate activities in the renewable energy sector, after years of war.

It further seeks to recognize the need to provide incentives under the Economy and Job Pillar of the Pro-Poor Agenda by encouraging private sector investment in the renewable energy sector.

The Executive Order takes immediate effect.
