Tubman University resumes normal academic activities…..

MARYLAND COUNTY, LIBERIA-Normal academic activities have begun at Tubman University in Maryland County, amid ongoing negotiations between the Tubman University Faculty Association (TUFA) and the Liberian Government.

The faculty recently staged an indefinite strike, citing several demands ranging from salary increment to a vote of no confidence in the former President of the University, Dr. Elliott Wleh-Wilson.

TUFA President Francis Fukah told ELBC on Wednesday, March 29, 2022, that the strike action is temporarily suspended, to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) which is segmented into long and short term interventions.

Mr. Fukah named salary increment, recruitment of more teaching staff and permanent employment as immediate demands that must be met.

He also said:” The Acting President of the University, Dr. Emmanuel Sie-Wreh, is showing some signs of commitment to negotiate with the Association.”

Meanwhile, Mr. Francis Fukah has denied claims that the Faculty Association supported the protest action of the students, during their strike.
