Justice Minister dismisses four police officers…..

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Minister of Justice has, with immediate effect, dismissed four police officers for using excessive force on civilians.

Those dismissed are Deputy Chief of Police and Emergency Respond Unit (ERU) Commander Amos Williams, Inspector Chris Williams, Sergeant George Wleh and Humphrey Kyne.

Minister Musa Dean said:” ERU Commander Amos’ dismissal is in connection with the incident that occurred in Brewerville in his nightclub, where he assaulted civilian Jethro McCarthy, while Inspector Chris Williams and military personnel on February 4, this year, severely beat Esther Younger in the Johnsonville area.”

He added: “Officer Humphrey Kyne assaulted a civilian, Oretha Tarlue, and struck her with a gun in her stomach.”

Minister Dean has instructed Montserrado County Attorney to commence investigation and onward prosecution.

The Justice Minister is cautioning the police to, at all-time, exercise due diligence in the discharge of their duties.
