General Auditing Commission begins validation of Gov’t Domestic debts

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The General Auditing Commission (GAC) has commenced a validation of the Liberian Government domestic debt portfolio.

The move comes as the Government has realized but the portfolio is so huge.

Auditor Garsua Jackson told ELBC Thursday, March 24, 2022, is important that a periodic validation is done on the domestic debt portfolio by an independent auditor.

According to Mr. Jackson, the last of such validation was conducted in 2008 by a Ghanaian auditing firm.

The Auditor General said:” At the end of the process, we will propose possible improvement in the controls and system environment for managing domestic debt.”

The validation process is expected to be completed by the end of May, 2022.
