Pres. Weah extends condolences to Gov’t, People of South Africa for death of Archbishop Tutu

MONROVIA, LIBEIA-President George Weah has described the passing of Archbishop Desmond Tutu, one of South Africa’s Anti-Apartheid Heroes, as an enormous lost to the global community.

The late Archbishop was widely known for speaking fearlessly against the ills of society everywhere in the world, not just South Africa.

In a statement on Sunday, December 26, 2021, President Weah recalled Archbishop Tutu’s emotional messages of peace and equal justice, which became central themes for the fight against human right abuses around the world.

He said:” Archbishop will be remembered for speaking truth to power, including the fearsome apartheid leaders in South Africa, the African National Congress and leaders around the world.”

The Liberian Leader recalled the late Clergy man‘s messages of peace around   the world, especially when he spoke against the abuse of children during the war.

Archbishop Tutu also served as Head of South Africa’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission, focusing primarily on healing a divided nation after the Apartheid Rule.

Meanwhile, President Weah has extended condolences to the Government and people of South Africa, and the Tutu family for the loss of the global peace icon
