Supreme Court denies two Attorneys for sitting…..

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Supreme Court of Liberia has denied the Head of Legal Department of the National Elections Commission (NEC), , and Bong County Debt Court Judge, for sitting the Supreme Court test.

Alvin Teage Jalloh and Atty. Patrick Williams were among seven Attorneys at Law, whose applications were rejected, following a three-day vetting process by the court.

It can be recalled that during the vetting hearing on December 8, 2021, Atty. Teage Jalloh openly admitted in court that he holds United States citizenship, while responding to questions from Chief Justice Francis Korkpor.

According to ELBC Judicial Reporter, Atty. Jalloh’s confession may have led to his rejection on grounds that only Liberian Citizens are allowed to practice law in Liberia, as   enshrined in Chapter 17, Section 17.6 of the Judiciary Law of Liberia.

As for Atty. Patrick Williams and others, they were denied for failure to appear in court, during the vetting process.

Out of one-hundred-twenty-fours attorneys who applied to be admitted as Counselors at Law of the Supreme Court Bar, 177 candidates were cleared by the court to sit the test.
