Gender Ministry uncovers a syndicate trafficking Liberians to the Middle East…..

MONROVIA, LIBEERIA-The Ministry of Gender said it has uncovered a network that has been trafficking Liberians, mainly women, to the Middle East.

Gender Minister Williametta Saydee Tarr said:” Many of the victims are lured to the Middle East, particularly the United Arab Emirates (UAE), by traffickers promising good job and better life.”

Madam Saydee Tarr said once the people arrived in the UAE, the story completely changes.

She said many have been forced into prostitution and slavery, dashing their hopes of greener opportunities.

Speaking on the MICAT Hour on Friday, December 10, 2021, the Gender Minister said that she has already initiated discussion for a gradual repatriation for some of the victims.

According to Madam Saydee Tarr, she has alerted the Ministry of Justice and relevant Government agencies, to dig deep into the situation
