Port of Harper gets first international vessel

HARPER, MARYLAND COUNTY, LIBERIA-The Port of Harper, in Maryland County, has received its first international vessel, since the end of the Liberian Civil War in 2003.

Golden Veroleum Liberia brought in the ship known as ‘Varkan Ege’ to transport crude palm oil from its production sites in Sinoe and Grand Kru Counties.

Speaking to ELBC Thursday, November 11, 2021, Harper Port Manager, William Wallace, said:” The arrival of the international vessel is a boost to the economic outlook of the Country.”

Mr. Wallace said the Government of President George Weah has worked over the years to restore the port to its pre-war status.

He lauded the Government for creating an enabling environment that is encouraging investors, to take interest in doing business in Liberia.

Mr. Wallace said:” The ship’s arrival on Thursday, November 11, 2021, signifies the high level of peace and stability the Country now enjoys.”

He then called on other investors to take keen interest in using the Port of Harper, in order to increase access to basic commodities for citizens in the southeast.
