Gov’t makes amendment to ArcelorMittal Expansion Agreement

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Government of Liberia has made an amendment to the recently signed ArcelorMittal expansion agreement.

The move by Government followed some concerns raised by citizens of Nimba County, about the impact of the Company’s operations.

Information Minister Ledgerhood Rennie made the disclosure Friday on the MICAT Hour.

He said the addendum to the ArcelorMittal deal was signed, following engagement meetings between President George Weah and the Company’s officials in Paris, France.

According to Minister Rennie, the new amendment takes into account some of the grievances expressed by the people of Nimba.

He added that the Executive will, in the coming weeks, submit the new agreement to the National Legislature for ratification in keeping with law.
