MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Former Liberian President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf has launched a campaign to urge men to support women in leadership.

The campaign, named and styled “Have Her Back”, has already received commitment from the Presidents of Ivory Coast and South Africa.

Former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo of Nigeria and Ernest Bai Koroma of Sierra Leone are also key supporters of the campaign.

The campaign is urging men to commit to working to ensure women’s leadership in their spheres of influence.

The Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf Presidential Center for Women and Development launched the campaign virtually on Friday, November 5, 2021.

The center believes those commitments are part of efforts to shift perceptions of African men’s support for gender equality
