Central Bank holds Nat’l Stakeholders’ Meeting on Payment System

MONROVIA, LIBERIA -The Central Bank of Liberia (CBL) is holding a two-day national stakeholder engagement on payment system in Monrovia.

According to the Director of Liberia Payment System at the CBL, Miatta Kudeh, the participants are expected to review a planned decision to transition all payments using electronic means.

Speaking to ELBC Tuesday, October 26, 2021, Madam Kudeh said:” Prior to the meeting, the CBL developed a modernized system to conduct large value transaction, and when completed, the system would afford commercial banks the opportunity to transact without using physical cash.”

She said the CBL, over the years, has been faced with the challenge of automating smaller value payments.

However, Madam Miatta Kudeh said such constraint could be addressed following the end of the stakeholder engagement meeting on Wednesday, October 26, 2021.
