Prez. Weah commits Liberia to ECOWAS’ position to return civilian rule in Guinea

MONROVIA, LIBERIA – President George Weah has reaffirmed Liberia’s commitment to the ECOWAS position on the military and political situation in neighboring Guinea.

The Liberia leader said ECOWAS is continuing its discussion with the military junta with the aim of returning Guinea to constitutional order and the release of deposed President Alha Conde.

President Weah said he and other regional leaders remains firm on their positions contained in the communiqué at the just ended ECOWAS Summit in Accra, Ghana.

He made the comments over the weekend at the Roberts International Airport upon his return from the ECOWAS Summit.

The Liberian leader said talks with the military junta will continue until there is an amicable solution to the political stalemate.
