Maritime Commissioner Nagbe wants reform at the International Maritime Org.

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Liberia’s Maritime Commissioner, Lenn Eugene Nagbe, is calling for reforms to the organizational and operational structures to the International Maritime Organization (IMO).

Commissioner Nagbe noted that such reforms must reflect a greater representation of Liberia at all levels of the world maritime body, because of its numerous contributions to the sector.

He said:” Liberia is the second largest due-paying member of the IMO, with more than four-thousand ships flying the Country’s flag.”

Commissioner Nagbe was speaking in London recently when he presented five-point-three United States Dollars as Liberia’s annual contribution to the IMO.

He called on the body to make some administrative changes that will include more qualified Liberians into the IMO system, as well as provide technical support to and the Country’s maritime program.
