Gov. to begin construction of major Beach Sports Facilities in Monrovia

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Government of Liberia is to shortly begin the construction of major beach sports facilities in Monrovia.

According to an Executive Mansion release issued on Wednesday, August 4, 2021, President George Weah will perform the groundbreaking for the facilities near the Barclay Training Center on Thursday, August 5, 2021.

The release said funding for the project is being jointly provided by the United Arab Emirates, through the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) and the Liberian Government.

It said the Beach Sports facilities and many other UAE funded projects are dividends of Liberia’s strong bilateral ties with the UAE.

According to the release, the facilities will host a full outdoor gym, two football fields, two basketball courts, two volleyball courts, a restaurants and a children’s playground.
