Gov. advances road development, brings in 42 earth moving equipment

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-About forty-two pieces of earth moving equipment are due to arrive in Liberia to enhance road connectivity nationwide.

Making the disclosure on Tuesday, July 27, 2021, Acting Public Works Minister Ruth Coker-Collins said:” The equipment will help rehabilitate some feeder roads in the Country.”

She said that discussions have been finalized and the machines, worth about five-million dollars, will be brought in by a Liberian company.

Meanwhile, the Acting Public Works Minister said they are working along with community based organizations to ensure the proper maintenance of the Japan Freeway.

Madam Coker-Collins said the role of community dwellers in the maintenance of the Japan Freeway cannot be overemphasized.

In another development, Minister Collins has given a forty-eight hour ultimatum to marketers regrouping at the Red Light and its surroundings to vacate.

She said that Government will not allow the regrouping of marketers to prohibited areas.

The Acting Public Works Boss said a team will on Tuesday demolish a building being used by some marketers at the former Gobachop Market in Red Light.

Minister Collins told ELBC Tuesday, July 27, 2021, that the Government has contracted a Liberian Company to carry two-thousand truckloads of laterite rocks to be spread at muddy places.

Minister Ruth Coker-Collins encouraged marketers to remain at the 14 Gobachop Market and the Omega facilities.
