Stop politicizing Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission’s work-Integrity Watch Liberia

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Integrity Watch Liberia is warning against politicizing the work of the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC).

The group said:” Such action has the propensity to demean the public image of the LACC, reduce public trust in its work and undermine its efforts to lead the fight against corruption.”

The warning was contained in a press statement issued on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, welcoming the LACC internal investigation, which exonerated the Commission’s Acting Chairman, Cllr. Kanio Bai Gbala, of any wrong doing.

The investigation was triggered by allegations of misconduct and corruption made by the former Executive Director of the LACC, Atty. Mohammed Fahnbulleh.

Integrity Watch Liberia said that the LACC, as the foremost anti-graft institution in the country, must maintain public trust and confidence in the discharge of its duties.

The group commended the Liberian Government for its prompt attention into the matter, which led to a speedy outcome.
