MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberian National Police (LNP) has gunned down a notorious armed robber identified as Ben Roberts, alias Bad Man Roberts.

Police Inspector General Col. Patrick Sudue said:” Ben Roberts was shot dead by an officer of the Anti-Robbery Unit in the Bilima Community, early Sunday morning, March 14, 2021.”

Colonel Sudue said the incident occurred when the Police Anti-Robbery Unit came under intense gun fire by Ben Roberts and four other accomplices, who escaped the robbery scene.

A Senior Police Officer identified as Alphonso Yarkpa is said to be undergoing treatment at the John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital in Sinkor, Monrovia, after he was shot in his left leg.

Speaking to reporters on Sunday morning, March 14, 2021, the Police Inspector General said:” Bad Man Roberts was a notorious armed robber who was once arrested and sent to jail.”

Col. Sudue has, meanwhile, disclosed that the police have increased patrol in Monrovia and its environs, and warned that the LNP will not hesitate to apply maximum force in keeping with law, to protect lives and properties.
