Streets and communities electrification remains paramount- Prez. Weah ensures

MONROOVIA, LIBERIA – President George Weah says Government’s quest of ensuring streets and communities in the country are electrified remains paramount.

The Liberian leader said citizens have so long endured the dangers associated with darkness especially criminal activities

Speaking at the commissioning of the Special Presidential Street Light in Bushrod Island over the weekend, President Weah said: “The lights will enhance the safety and security of the citizens at night”.

“The lighting of Monrovia may seem small and insignificant but it is a giant step in terms of the impact it may have on the lives of citizens”, President Weah said.

Meanwhile, President Weah has warned unscrupulous individuals found in the habit of unscrewing the knobs from the light poles to desist.

He said such action is only counter-productive, but affects all Liberians irrespective of political or ethnic affiliations.

At the same time, Mines and Energy Minister, Gesler Murray has reassured that the CLSG Project will be commissioned late March-2021.

Minister Murray said: “The project will kick off with full scale power supply in the country”.

Mr. Murray noted that the project will boost Liberia’s energy sector. He thanked President Weah for supporting electricity as key pillar under government’s PRO-POOR AGENDA.

Meanwhile the Mines Minister has joined calls for those unscrewing the knobs from the newly installed light poles in the streets of Monrovia to desist.
