Private School Teachers benefit from Liberian Gov.’s Stimulus Package

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Private School Teachers have begun benefiting from the Liberian Government’s Stimulus Package.

According to the Education Ministry, each teacher will receive forty-five United States Dollars through Mobile Money Account earlier submitted to the Ministry.

Speaking Wednesday, December 23, 2020, during the official launch of the package at the Ministry of Education, Education Minister Ansu Sonii, said:” Beneficiaries of the money were well vetted by Private School Administrators.”

He paid tribute to President George Weah for the initiative, describing teachers as valuable people in society.

Meanwhile, Minister Sonii is calling on school administrators who have submitted the registration of their teachers to do so before the January 12, 2021 deadline.

The Liberian Government recently allotted one-million United States Dollars to Private School Teachers, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Meanwhile, the President of the National Teachers Association of Liberia (NTAL), Mary Nyumah, says the Teaching profession is one of the best professions in the world.

Remarking during the official launch of the Stimulus Package of Private School Teachers, Madam Nyumah admonished teachers to be steadfast and patient in the execution of their professional duties, despite low incentives.

She said:” The Association observed during the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic that Public School Teachers were receiving salaries, while teachers of private schools were being left out.”

“This prompted our immediate negotiation with the Government of Liberia through the Ministry of Education to have stimulus package for Private School Teachers, which was endorsed by President George Weah.”

The NTAL President then praised the Liberian Leader and the Education Ministry for granting their request.
