MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The French Government is sponsoring nineteen young Liberian students to study at the Institute National Polytechnic Houphoet Boigny in Yamoussoukro, La Cote D’Ivoire.

The students have joined twenty-one others to earn undergraduate degrees in various technical disciplines.

The initiative is spearheaded by the Office of Liberia’s First Lady Clar Weah, and came as a result of President George Weah’s first state visit to Paris, France, in February 2018.

The students will obtain degrees in Information and Communication Sciences and Technologies, Industrial Engineering Sciences and Technologies, and Process Engineering Sciences and Technologies, among others.

The beneficiaries were recruited among six-hundred students through a vigorous process by the Office of Liberia’s First Lady Clar Weah.

At the same time, the Chief of Office Staff to the First Lady, Gaelie Mediem, urged the students to make good use of the opportunity by learning to their best.

Madam Mediem told the students that they have the opportunity to contribute to the development of Liberia, by working hard to obtain degrees.

She encouraged them to be strong despite the language barrier and keep focus on their studies, because education is the only way they will not be compromised to destroy Liberia.

In remarks, the students expressed gratitude to President Weah and First Lady Clar Weah for the initiative, describing it as a life changing moment.

The students departed the Country Thursday, December 17, 2020.

They pledged to commit themselves to their studies make advancement and make their parents and Liberia proud.
