LBS Ad-hoc Election Committee declares Michael Karr winner

PAYNESVILLE, LIBERIA – The Ad-hoc Election Committee of the Liberia Broadcasting System Workers’ Union (LIBSWU) has declared Michael Karr as the winner of the Union’s election.

The Friday, December 18, 2020, election was won with a total of 91 votes by Mr. Karr ahead of his rival, Victor Kessellie got 41votes.

According to the Ad-hoc Election Committee, it printed 393 ballot papers and had 177 registered voters while a total of 140 voters turned out and 135 valid voters participated in the voting.

The LBS Workers also elected Rachel Kollie as Vice President. Madam Kollie defeated Zoequay Besloy Konneh 60 to 56 votes in the Vice Presidential election.

The position of Secretary-General and Assistant Secretary was won by Charles Johnson and Cece Broks respectively on the white ballot.

Meanwhile, the newly elected President, Michael Karr has vowed to reconcile the institution. He made the statement following the announcement of the results of the election.

At the same time, President-elect Karr on Monday, December 21, 2020, reached out to various departments of LBS, thanking and appreciating the general staff for supporting him to victory, and has vowed to always consult them for a better union.
