Residents of Monrovia and Paynesville Benefit from safe drinking water

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-More than four-hundred-thousand residents of Monrovia and Paynesville stand to benefit from safe drinking water soon.

It followed the dedication of kiosks in New Kru Town for sixty-four communities in Monrovia and Paynesville.

The water project was sponsored by City Alliance, a global partnership fight urban poverty. Other partners on the project included the Federation of Urban Poor Savers, COMIC Relief and the Young Men Christian Association(YMCA-Liberia). The organizations worked in partnership with the Government of Liberia through line (WASH) agencies to ensure the success of the project.

Speaking at the dedication, Deputy Internal Affairs Minster for Urban Affairs, Paulita Wie, reassured of Government’s commitment to providing basic social services to the Liberian people.

Minister Wie urged residents of the benefiting communities to take proper ownership of the project and use it to improve their lives.

Madam Wie said:” President George Weah is passionate about the plight of the poor, and has directed Government’s development focus on improving the livelihood of the poor in the Country.”
