Roberts International Airport to resume operations this Sunday, June 28

LOWER MARGIBI COUNTY, LIBERIA–The Roberts International Airport (RIA) is expected to resume commercial flights, following its reopening ceremonies on Sunday, June 28, 2020.

It followed stakeholders’ meeting in the Transport, Health and Aviation Sectors chaired by President George Weah.

The Airport was closed by Government as part of lockdown measures to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus.

In early June this year, President Weah ordered the reopening of the RIA previously scheduled for June 21, but it was extended by additional one week to review the health protocols.

Information Minister Eugene Nagbe told ELBC that the gradual easing measures are intended to reopen the economy after months of economic strangulation, as a result of COVID-19.
