By: Kolubah Zayzay

Monrovia – Liberia, The Youth and Sports Ministry and workers of the Beaches and Water Ways Monday have reached an agreement to settle four months’ salary arrears and waive the remaining months.

At a meeting Monday in New Kru Town, Bushrod Island, Youth and Sports Minister Zeogar Wilson, told the Beaches and Water Ways workers that government was finding it difficult to pay twenty-one months’ arrears to the more than five thousand people.

Minister Wilson said many of the people were infused into the program by the dismissed officials.

He noted that the unauthorized infusion of more than one thousand people into the program has triggered malpractices and subsequently forced government to close the program in March.

Minister Wilson said the government cannot afford 5.5 million United States Dollars to pay twenty-one months’ arrears to more than five thousand workers due to the economic situation the confronting the Country.
