Gov’t Welcomes Press Union planned petition Against Reported Brutality Meted Out To the Media

MONROVIA, LIBERIA – The Liberian Government says it welcomes Press Union of Liberia (PUL)’s decision to petition it against reported alleged brutality against the media.

According to our reporter, the PUL, in a mass meeting Monday, agreed to petition the Government and her International Partners for what they believed be Security brutality against the Liberian media.

In an ELBC interview Tuesday, Presidential Press Secretary, Solo Kelgbeh, said the petition, when submitted by the PUL, will be reviewed and acted upon by the Government.

Mr. Kelgbeh added that those accused will be investigated and, if found guilty, prosecuted in line with Liberia’s organic law.

He also wants the PUL caution its members against meddling in security inquires with motor operators, a situation he claims sparks up tension at times.
