PPAL Takes Sex Education to School

Monrovia Liberia – An urgent call has been sounded to teenagers to avoid early sex in order to prevent pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases.

Such avoidance, according to Planned Parenthood Association, will allow teenagers focus on their education as well as plans for the future.

Teenage females are being particularly warned against early sex as it leads to unwanted pregnancies that disrupt their education and break down their physical and mental well-being.

Planned Parenthood Association of Liberia Service Delivery Officer Regina Hodges urged the young females not to be fooled into sex in the name of love, noting that sex and love are two different things.

Madam Hodges told a gathering of students that teen-age pregnancy leads to complication during delivery, something she said can result to deaths or sometimes diseases.

She was speaking to students at a local school in Paynesville Friday during awareness against early sex and teenage pregnancy.

Meanwhile, Planned Parenthood Association of Liberia Administrator Yemi Osanyin termed teenage sex and pregnancy as an emergency situation requiring the efforts of everyone to solve.

Mr. Osanyin challenged Parents, Teachers, and School administrators, religious and traditional leaders to champion the cause against early sex that leads to teenage pregnancy.

According to him, if the various groupings are advancing the safety messages to their children, it will protect them from early sex.

Mr. Osanyin assured that teaching the teens about their sexual life and the right time to engage in sex will play a pivotal role in ending teenage pregnancy in society.
