MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Ministry of Health (MOH) has commenced a three-day free medical screening exercise for employees of the Civil Service Agency (CSA).
The exercise, which began on Tuesday, October 6, in the Dr. C. William Allen Conference Room, is an ongoing effort by the CSA, through its Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Division, and the Ministry of Health.
According to the Ministry of Health, the initiative is being conducted across various government ministries, agencies, and commissions.
It is aimed at promoting employee wellness and encouraging public servants to undergo regular medical checkups.
Giving an overview of the exercise, the assigned Team Lead, Madam Miatta Yekee, Clinical Coordinator at the Ministry of Health, said the screening covers basic vital signs, including blood pressure, blood sugar tests, and other basic health checks.
Madam Yekee noted that the initiative will provide employees with an opportunity to assess their health status and receive basic medical guidance from health professionals.
She lauded the CSA Management, through its Human Resource and Occupational Health and Safety Divisions, for the level of coordination and support provided during the exercise.
Earlier, the MOH team was warmly received and welcomed by the Director-General of the Civil Service Agency, Dr. Josiah F. Joekai, Jr., who, among other things, thanked Health Minister Dr. Louise Kpoto and her team for the initiative.
Dr. Joekai used the occasion to recommend making medical screening a routine across the civil service. The CSA boss stressed the importance of a healthy workforce, emphasizing the need for employees to know their health status.
He noted that the exercise would be more meaningful if conducted periodically, allowing employees to compare results over time, monitor progress, and identify emerging health concerns early.
Dr. Josiah F. Joekai, Jr. reaffirmed the CSA’s willingness to support coordination and, where necessary, facilitate orientation and training for HR representatives to ensure the effective implementation of future employee health-related initiatives.
The ongoing exercise underscores the CSA’s commitment to employee welfare and the development of a sustained workplace health and wellness program.
