MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Liberia’s former Finance Minister, Samuel Tweah, and four others’ corruption case has been rescheduled for Thursday, April 2, 2026, at Criminal Court ‘C’ in Monrovia.
This followed the illnesses of some of the trial jurors who are considered judges of the facts.
Judge Ousman Feika has since informed both parties’ lawyers through a notice of assignment that the matter will continue on Thursday at 9 am.
Before the jurors’ illnesses, the state rested with its first witness on the direct examination after giving notice to the court.
The witness in question is currently responding to questions on the cross-examination with defense lawyers.
The defense team is questioning the credibility of his testimony provided on the direct examination.
The witness, during Tuesday’s proceedings, linked the five defendants to the role each one of them played in stealing the amount for which they are currently being indicted, and facing criminal investigations before the court.
The defense lead lawyer, Cllr. Arthur Johnson, who is cross-examining the state’s first witness, is finding it difficult to entrap him as to the evidence provided on the direct examination.
The five defendants are on trial for allegedly stealing over six million U.S. Dollars and one billion Liberian Dollars.
