MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Education Ministry and UNICEF have signed a new five-year Work Plan to improve learning outcomes for children across Liberia.
The agreement, covering the period 2026 to 2030, marks a renewed phase of collaboration between the Government of Liberia and UNICEF.
The Plan was finally signed on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, by Education Minister, Dr. Jarso Jallah, and UNICEF Country Representative, Andy Brooks.
Education officials say the signing highlighted the shared commitment of both institutions to support Liberia’s long-term education development goals.
According to them, the five-year framework prioritizes foundational learning, equity, and stronger education service delivery.
Special attention will be given to vulnerable and marginalized learners to ensure that no child is left behind in accessing quality education.
At the same time, the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), in collaboration with the Education Ministry, has released the timetable for the 2026 National Examinations for school candidates.
According to a statement from the Education Ministry, the Liberia Junior High School Certificate Examination for ninth-grade students is scheduled for April 20-21, 2026.
The release noted that the Liberia National Assessment Test, administered to third-grade students, will follow on April 22, 2026.
For sixth-grade students, the Liberia Primary School Certificate Examination is set to take place from April 23-24, 2026.
The ministry added that senior high school students will sit for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) beginning June 1, 2026.
Meanwhile, the Education Ministry is urging students, school administrators, and parents to take note of these important dates and begin preparations.
