MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Presiding Judge at Criminal Court ‘C’, Ousman Feika, has subpoenaed the Ministry of Finance, the Central Bank of Liberia, and the Financial Intelligence Agency to appear and testify to documents and transactions in the ongoing economic sabotage case involving former Finance Minister Samuel Tweah and four others.
Judge Feika also observed that those subpoena documents have not been served within twenty-four hours to adequately prepare them for the trial.
Earlier, during the selection of the jury, eleven of the jurors were rejected out of the twenty that were questioned by both prosecution and defense teams, while nine were accepted to form part of the jury panel.
They were rejected for several reasons, ranging from knowing and interacting with some of the defendants and some of the lawyers.
Defense Lawyer, Cllr. Wilkins Wright earlier argued that the prosecution failed to submit the discovery evidence to the defense team to be used by the prosecution to prosecute the case they had refused, and neglected to turn over said documents.
But in resistance, one of the Prosecuting Lawyers, Cllr. Jerry Garlawolo, and told the Court that during the pre-trial conference on February 12, 2025, the case file was submitted and Cllr. Arthur Johnson received the file at 10:30 am, adding that it was out of that conference that additional subpoena documents were held accountable for those institutions.
Samuel Tweah, Nyenati Tuan, Moses Cooper, Stanley Ford, and Jefferson Karmoh were indicted for multiple crimes, ranging from economic sabotage to misuse of public money, and money laundering, among others.
