MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Education Minister Jarso Maley Jallah has frowned on teachers’ absenteeism, warning that failure to report for classroom duties undermines learning outcomes across Liberia.
The minister made the statement on Thursday, March 12, 2026, during unannounced monitoring visits to public schools in Montserrado County to assess teacher attendance, instructional quality, and classroom learning conditions.
During the exercise, Dr. Jallah visited the Voka Mission School, where she commended the administration for maintaining discipline, organization, and a supportive learning environment for students.
However, at Peace Island Model Public School, the minister raised concerns after discovering several teachers were absent from classrooms during official instructional hours.
Dr. Jallah said,” Teacher absenteeism directly undermines students’ learning outcomes and emphasized that stronger supervision will be maintained to promote accountability within schools”.
The Ministry of Education says unannounced school visits will continue nationwide as part of broader efforts to strengthen supervision and improve the delivery of education.
