MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Minister of Education, Dr. Jarso Jallah, has reaffirmed the Government of Liberia’s commitment to expanding school feeding programs as a cornerstone of national education reform.
Speaking at the SABER School Meals Module National Workshop on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at Corina Hotel in Sinkor, Monrovia, Dr. Jallah said, “Children’s nutrition is not a luxury—it’s the foundation of all learning and growth.”
Dr. Jallah further proclaimed Liberia’s historic move to create a dedicated budget line for school feeding and outlined bold targets, including reaching over three hundred thirty thousand children by 2029, and institutionalizing a USD 5 million annual allocation.
The Minister emphasized that education reform must begin with the child, not just the curriculum.
Meanwhile, Education Minister, Dr. Jallah, says Liberia’s Education System must confront a deeper challenge, improving quality, not just expanding access.
Speaking at the launch of the Leaders in Teaching program, she stressed that while more students are entering classrooms, the real test lies in whether they leave with the skills and confidence to succeed.
Minister Jallah said,” The Leaders in Teaching program funded by the MasterCard Foundation and implemented by EDC will directly support over nine thousand teachers and three thousand two hundred school leaders, reaching nearly the entire secondary school population”.
She emphasized that teachers and school leaders are central to national development and must be equipped to meet the demands of modern classrooms.
Minister Jallah also praised the MasterCard Foundation for its collaborative approach during the co-creation process, which helped shape a program that responds directly to Liberia’s needs, rather than imposing external solutions.
Minister Jallah has, at the same time, reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to working with partners to ensure that every student benefits from quality teaching and leadership.
