MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Representatives from the World Health Organization (WHO), West Africa Health Organization, Paul Ehrlich Institute, Africa Disease Control, and partners are participating in a two-day conference in Monrovia.
The conference is organized by the Liberia Medicines and Health Product Regulatory Authority (LMHRA).
The conference, held under the theme:” Medicine Safety Monitoring and Clinical Trials Oversight in Emerging Regulatory System”, is intended to review the Liberia Medicines and Health Product Regulatory Authority’s safety guidelines.
Speaking on Monday, September 1, 2025, at the start of the conference, Director General of LMHRA, Luke Bawo, urged participants to proffer recommendations that will foster innovation, collaboration, and a shared commitment to improve the safety of patients and advance clinical research in Liberia.
Director General Bawo described the conference as a step in the right direction for the authority, highlighting the role of participants in clinical research and the provision of quality healthcare, among others.
Meanwhile, the LMHRA Director General said,” The Authority is currently working out modalities to upgrade its quality control laboratory as part of efforts to advance clinical research in the country”.
