MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Deputy Chief of Mission at the British Embassy, Joanna Markbreiter, has reiterated the Embassy’s support for Liberia’s growing role in international diplomacy.
Madam Markbreiter described Liberia’s election to the UN Security Council as a testament to the country’s leadership in West Africa.
The British Envoy emphasized the importance of clear and concise communication to advance Liberia’s priorities, including peacebuilding sustainable development and human rights advocacy.
She reaffirmed the Embassy’s support to Liberia recently, at a one-day capacity-building training for staff of the Foreign Ministry in preparation for Liberia’s upcoming membership on the UN Security Council Non-Permanent Seat in 2026.
Madam Markbreiter expressed the Embassy’s excitement in partnering with the Foreign Ministry to enhance the skills needed for effective participation in the critical global forum.
Meanwhile, the Director Generator of Liberia’s Foreign Service Institute (FSI), Reginald Goodridge says the government is ensuring its team is well-prepared to engage the UN Security Council Non-Permanent Seat with confidence and clarity.
Goodridge hailed the one-day capacity-building training for staff of the Foreign Ministry as a pivotal step in preparing Liberia for its Non-Permanent UN Security Council Seat.
He expressed the Foreign Ministry’s gratitude to the British Embassy for its continued partnership and expertise, which will strengthen Liberia’s ability to address pressing global challenges.
According to him, the strategic initiative underscores Liberia’s commitment to enhancing its diplomatic capabilities and contributing effectively to global peace and security discussions.
The training, held at the Foreign Affairs Ministry in Monrovia, focused on equipping participants with the skills needed for effective communication within the complex UN Security Council policy environment.
Participants include assistant ministers, senior diplomats, senior desk officers, and administrative staff, among others.
