MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Internal Audit Agency (IAA) has strongly denied recent media reports alleging corruption within its payroll system and the awarding of a vehicle rental contract, describing the claims as “misleading and unfounded.”
Addressing the issue on Thursday, IAA Communication Director Adolphus Kawah and the team clarified that at no point did it engage in any fraudulent activities or unauthorized dealings as suggested in the reports.
Mr. Kawah and team further disclosed that all payroll processes are usually verified through internal checks and audits, and are sent to the Civil Service Agency (CSA) for ongoing payment.
At the same time, the team of IAA officials also refuted that the agency awarded a contract to the Director General’s wife, stressing that the IAA legally entered into a short-term, renewable agreement with E-12, a registered Liberian-owned company, for vehicle rental services.
The agency reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and accountability in public service, and warned against what it called “deliberate misinformation” intended to damage the credibility of government institutions.
