Embattled House Speaker Cllr. Koffa Files Bill of Info…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Embattled House Speaker Cllr. Fonati Koffa has filed a Bill of Information against the Executive and Majority Bloc before the Full Bench of the Supreme Court of Liberia.

Cllr. Koffa’s Legal Team headed by Cllr. Arthur Johnson, said:” We are submitting the Bill of Information for the Bench to take appropriate corrective actions against the deliberate violations of the December 6 ruling and their refusal to obey same.”

Cllr. Johnson said:” Wrongful interpretation of the Court’s ruling by Justice Minister and Attorney General of Liberia, Cllr. Oswald Tweh contributed to the Majority Bloc’s violation of the Court’s ruling.”

In a five-count petition, Cllr. Koffa’s Legal Team alleged that by the Justice Minister issuing a legal opinion on December 10, he falsely asserted that the Court’s ruling and final judgment concluded that the sittings, actions, and decisions of the Majority Bloc were lawful, which they described as exacerbating the situation.

They are requesting the Supreme Court to declare the actions of Representative Richard Koon and members of the Majority Bloc null and void, and sessions, hearings, or decisions, a violation of the Court’s ruling and final judgment.

Cllr. Arthur Johnson also wants the Court to determine the action of Montserrado County District-Eleven Representative Koon and Deputy Speaker Thomas Fallah and others in defying the Court’s ruling as contemptuous, and order the Justice Minister to publicly recall his opinion that misinterprets the Supreme Court’s ruling.
