Pres. Boakai Expresses Concern over Liberia Electricity Corporation’s Increment of Electricity Tariffs

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President Joseph Boakai has expressed concern over plan by the Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC) to increase electricity tariffs.

A document from the Liberia Electricity Regulatory Commission (LERC) seen by ELBC shows that the LEC is proposing between thirty-six to forty percent increment on prepaid and postpaid electricity tariff.

The document also shows a proposed three hundred-ten and eighty percent increment in various categories of connection charges.

However, speaking in Congo Town on Thursday, October 31,2024, Vice President Jeremiah Koung said:” President Joseph Boakai is not in support of the proposed increase in electricity tariffs.”

Vice President Koung added that the President is concern about the news of the proposed increase in electricity tariffs in Liberia.
