Gov. of Liberia, Partners Begin Nat’l Action Plan Dev….

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberian Government and partners have begun developing National Action Plan to enhance the capacity of youth, peace and security in Liberia.

The instrument is being jointly developed by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the UN Population Fund and the ECOWAS.

At the start of the event on Thursday, October 17,2024, Youth and Sports Minister Cole Bangalu said the gathering is also bringing together representatives of youth groups, including the Federation of Liberian Youth (FLY), Liberia National Students Union (LINSU) and the Mano River Youth Parliament, among others.

Minister Bangalu urged participants of the event to proffer positive suggestions and recommendations that will improve the living standards of the youthful population of the country.

Minister Bangalu then thanked development partners for their continued support towards government’s quest to improve the livelihood of Liberian youth.

Meanwhile, the Country Representative of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Bidisha Pillai, says youth participation in the decision-making process is crucial.

Madam Pillai said;” Such approach can foster transparency, accountability and inclusion in the governance structure of the country.”

Madam Pillai assured the Government of the United Nations Population Fund’s commitment to support policies and programs that will improve the living standards of youth in Liberia.

The Country Representative of the United Nations Population Fund then pledged UNFPA’s full support in fostering peace and security in Liberia for the betterment of the State and its people.
