Gov. of Liberia Secures $108 Million Euro Support Package from EU

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberian Government has successfully secured a one-hundred-eight million Euros support package from the European Union (EU) aimed at addressing various critical areas.

According to a Foreign Ministry release issued recently, the grant will focus on key initiatives, including direct budget support, combating gender-based violence, and fostering public-private partnerships.

EU Commissioner for International Partnership, Jutta Urpilainen, disclosed during a bilateral meeting with Liberia’s Foreign Minister, Sara Beysolow-Nyanti, in Brussels, Belgium.

She commended the Liberian Government for its support in mutual areas such as human rights, the rule of law, the Ukraine-Russian crisis, women empowerment, and democratic transformation.

The EU Commissioner also highlighted Liberia’s important role in regional peace and security, particularly its leadership within the Mano River Union (MRU).

Meanwhile, Minister Nyanti has commended the EU for its longstanding and enhanced cooperation with Liberia.

She emphasized that the partnership between Liberia and the EU dates back to the 1970s, starting with the signing of the ACP-EU Agreement.

The Liberian Foreign Minister also outlined the priorities of the Government of Liberia under the ARREST Agenda, initiated by President Joseph Boakai.

The Dean of the Cabinet underscored the significance of mutual collaboration and shared values, describing it as crucial for navigating global challenges.
