Liberia Makes Stronger Integration of Climate Resilience Call

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Government of Liberia has called for stronger integration of climate resilience into peace-building strategies.

Deputy Foreign Minister for International Cooperation and Economic Integration, Dr. Ibrahim Nyei, said:” Addressing climate scarcity and supporting adaptation efforts are crucial to ensuring environmental sustainability.”

Mr. Nyei said the effects of climate change are increasingly driving conflicts and displacement, particularly in vulnerable regions like West Africa.

Dr. Nyei spoke over the weekend at the 2024 Peace-Building Commission Ministerial Meeting in the United States.

Dr. Ibrahim Nyei also noted that sustained peace requires sustained investment, adding that Liberia supports increased predictable financing for peace-building initiatives.
