Swedish Gov. Unveils Five-Year Strategic Project…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Swedish Government has unveiled a five-year strategic project to enhance the General Auditing Commission’s (GAC) operations.

It followed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Swedish National Audit Office and the GAC.

The Swedish National Audit Project Manager, Isabelle Berglund, said:” The intervention is to support efficiency and professionalism at the GAC in keeping with international best practices.”

Madam Berglund said the five-year Project will focus on staff capacity development, and financial and compliance audits, among others.

She, however, thanked the General Auditing Commission for its strides in fostering transparency and accountability in the governance structure of the Country.

Meanwhile, Liberia’s Auditor General Garswa Jackson said:” The Project signifies the Swedish Government’s commitment to Public Sector transparency, and I am optimistic that the partnership between Liberia and Sweden will continue to flourish for the benefit of the two countries.”

Auditor General Jackson then extolled the Government and people of Sweden, especially the authorities of the Swedish National Audit Office, for its continued support of the General Auditing Commission.
