MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Operation Manager United Bank of Africa Ganta Branch, George Varney, and Control Officer Ernest Bailea, are facing prosecution for allegedly stealing over twenty thousand US Dollars.

The two UBA staffers, according to a police investigation, allegedly withdrew the monies from the account of the William V.S Tubman Semi High School in Kpain, Nimba County, from December 2023 to January 2024.

The fund was provided by the World Bank, through IRISE, to build the High School Section of the school and other targeted projects.

The investigation also revealed that the conflicted account is being managed by the Principal of the school, the PTA, and the District Educational Officer.

It was also established that on December 21, 2023, defendants George Varney and Ernest Bailea, along with one Nekewom Sherrington, were seen on CCTV footage during the withdrawal transitions with Teller Victor Marshall to pay the check.
