Liberia Nat’l Bar Association Supports Judiciary’s Rejection of Its Allotment of 2024 Nat’l Budget

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberian National Bar Association (LNBA) says it supports the Judiciary’s recent rejection of its allotment in the 2024 National Budget.

Addressing a press conference on Monday, June 10, 2024, the LNBA President, Cllr. Sylvester Rennie, said:” The low budgetary allotment is counter-productive to the effective dispensation of justice.”

Cllr. Rennie said:” The rule of law is pivotal under the ARREST agenda, and such allotment for the judiciary could undermine the Government of Liberia’s pillar on the Rule of Law.”

He believes that a functional judiciary requires realistic budgetary appropriations to render the kind of judiciary services expected of it.

The Liberia National Bar Association President then called on the Government of Liberia to give immediate attention to state prosecutors by providing adequate incentives.
